Fortunately, I was brought up in a commercial environment in South Australia and my family were the founders of T and R Pastoral now Thomas Foods a global organisation. This provided me a good start to the world of business.

An accounting graduate, my career spanned the agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewables, and industrial industries. During my corporate years my roles were mostly commercial, contracts and procurement at a number of multinationals including Barrick Gold and Rio Tinto, in both Gold and Uranium commodities, with Involvement in large scale mining projects / operations. My career than moved to the Oil and Gas industry, previous work experience includes:

• World’s first CSG to LNG market
• Head of Asset Contracts and Procurement
• Head of Upstream and Pipeline Contracts & Procurement
• CSG to LNG mega projects Santos GLNG and BG-QGC (Shell) QCLNG

Over the years in Corporate I gained a good strategic view of the market, understanding its needs and could recognise potential opportunities for growth and continuous improvements. However, after 30 years working in a corporate environment, I followed my desire to conduct consulting, private equity, and board roles.

Board roles were of particular interest and my roles included:

  • Safer Together for Oil and Gas Industry
  • Sight for All – Australian of the Year Dr James Muecke NFP
  • Princess Royal Family
  • CD Power
  • iPIPE
  • Nitschke Energy

After years of being on these boards it’s the Advisory board roles I enjoy, less risk and there is a genuine respect for your contribution.

Rowe Advisory was founded in 2013 delivering work by providing Contract Labor, Advisory and recruitment services. Over the years Rowe Advisory has developed into a Contracts and Procurement / Supply chain company resources with industry experienced talent. Rowe Advisory has tier one clients in Australia across multiple industries. In 2019 I established Rowe Advisory in the UK and we have been measured in our approach working with Oil and Gas and renewable organisations. Our team has grown over the years and in addition to our core scope we work with many organisations on various other scopes including Human Resources.

In 2020 during Covid I founded Promitheia Procurement an online shopping platform for all templates required for a Contracts and Procurement function. An innovative short cut to take the hard work away from drafting bespoke documents.

In 2023 I founded Tough Talk with Jody Rowe Podcast. Tough Talk is all about Energy transition where I draw on my extensive network to engage with the right guest. Subjects include Hydrogen, Gas, Coal, Transmission, Onshore and offshore wind, Solar across industries including Agriculture. Tough Talk is tracking well since establishment.

Over the last 10 years I think I have proven that Contracts and Procurement professionals can effectively have a business, have board roles, and become media personalities…. Funny but kind of true!
